Zachary Brenner is a filmmaker and film curator based in Los Angeles.

His narrative work often explores characters fighting to remain resilient in worlds that aren’t designed for them — often focusing on characters with disabilities and chronic illnesses.

In 2025, he was a fellow in the Disability Belongs Entertainment Lab. In 2024, he was a semifinalist for the Humanitas New Voices Fellowship and the Roadmap Writers Diversity Fellowship. His work has also been recognized by Coverfly’s Red List, the Black List, Screencraft’s Sci-Fi & Fantasy contest, and the WeScreenplay TV contest.

He is the creator of Shorts Before, where he curates pairings of stellar short films with popular features, as if programmed together in a theater. As an advocate for bold and truly independent storytelling, he aims to engage more audiences with the short film format — where filmmakers are often at their most authentic.

Most recently, he worked on the brand marketing team at IMAX, where he focused on building campaigns that excite audience to engage with theatrical films.

His experience spans several Hollywood productions across production and development — DUNKIRK, US, 1917, WEST SIDE STORY, JACK RYAN, FINCH, THE FABELMANS, and many more.

He is also the co-creator of C3, a disability collective focused on creating safer, more accessible spaces for collaboration among creatives living with chronic illness, mental illness, and/or physical disabilities.
